What Do You Believe?

In my book, Full Speed In Reverse, Chapter 4 is about your brain - on confidence. When you and your brain are not confident, you may believe things that take away from your life. I call those things untruths. An untruth is something you believe about yourself, but isn’t true. They usually starts when you’re young and generally come from someone you love. Untruths are things like: You’re not as smart as your brother, you’re not as pretty as your sister, you’re not good at math, you’re always angry, you aren’t lucky, or you’ll never be enough. The worst part is that some of us create our entire lives based on them.
Why do we believe untruths? They speak to our weaknesses. They touch parts of our lives that hurt. It’s also very easy to adopt them as part of who we are because they come from family members or people we love.
Suggestion: think about the things that you believe about yourself. Challenge yourself to question if those beliefs are true. Most untruths are simply things we haven’t put proper time in to learning, dealing with, accepting, or handling.
The truth is… you will never be any of the things you think you’re not; until you change the way you think and (more importantly) feel about yourself.
